5 mistakes to avoid on WAEC results day (that cost students their PIN)

Every year, thousands of students burn their PIN uses on avoidable mistakes. Here are the top 5 — and how to check your WASSCE or BECE result cleanly on the first try.

A WAEC PIN only allows a limited number of result views. Waste them all on typos or the wrong site and you'll be buying a second card. Don't be that student.

1. Typing your Serial and PIN into the wrong site

The only official portal for Ghana is ghana.waecdirect.org. Anything else is a look-alike — it can't show your real result.

2. Mixing up Serial and PIN

The Serial Number goes into the Serial box. The PIN goes into the PIN box. Sounds obvious — this is the #1 wasted-view reason we see.

3. Choosing the wrong Examination Type

WASSCE, BECE and NovDec live on the same portal. Pick the one that matches your exam.

4. Refreshing repeatedly on a slow network

Every refresh can count as a view. Wait for the page to load fully instead of tapping refresh.

5. Not saving a copy of your result

Once your result loads, screenshot it or save the page as a PDF. Your future self applying to university will thank you.
